Thermochromism refers to the phenomenon where a material undergoes color changes under temperature changes. This change is usually caused by changes in the electronic or molecular structure of the material. Its application principle mainly involves t...

Carbon Nanotubes Can Promote Muscle Regeneration

  • July 7,2016.

Recently, scientists from the University of Pittsburgh and Wright State University found that a new type of carbon skeleton could help injured or diseased muscle tissue regeneration.

Since the human body would naturally inhibit skeletal muscle regeneration, after muscle injury, the human body needs to help its regeneration by other ways. One of them is in the damaged area using a skeleton to make material progenitor cells (myoblasts) to differentiate into myotubes, which is the first stage of muscle regeneration. Eventually, myotube submicron myofibrils, myofibrils further differentiation, and gathered together to form a functional muscle groups. At the same time, any holder in order to promote tissue regeneration must mimic this nano-micro and nano-structure organizational level.

As an important part of the new carbon skeleton, the Carbon Nanotubes is not only promising in the biomedical field, but currently one of the most widely studied and applied nanomaterials. Since carbon nanotubes has been discovered, its super mechanical properties, excellent field emission performance, high hydrogen storage properties, potential chemical properties make the research and preparation of carbon nanotubes has been hotspot in the international field of nanotechnology and new materials. The technology can break through again, also benefit the entire sector.
