      Solid Oxide Fuel Cell (SOFC) is a third-generation fuel cell, which is an all-solid state that directly converts chemical energy stored in fuel and oxidant into highly efficient and environment-friendly energy at medium and high temperatures. Chemical power plant. It is widely regarded as a kind of fuel cell that will be widely used as a proton exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) in the future.

      There are two components in the SOFC system, namely the anode and the electrolyte. Yttria Stabilized Zirconia (YSZ) is selected.

1. Nano yttria stabilized zirconia anodes used in SOFC systems

      The SOFC reaction involves the contact of fuel or oxygen (usually air), electrolyte (solid or liquid) and the three kinds of electrodes. Three-phase contact is one of the key technologies for fuel cell design. The key technology of SOFC is embodied in the material of the battery components. For the selection, the anode support in the SOFC system is doped with 8mol Y2O3 in zirconia ceramic (thickness 1mm) and the anode functional layer is of 10-20μm thickness in NiO+YSZ film. -R50Y8) is an ideal material for solid oxide fuel cells.

2. Nano yttria stabilized zirconia electrolyte used in SOFC system

      The commonly used material of SOFC electrolyte is zirconium oxide, but the pure zirconium oxide has low electrical conductivity at 1000°C, which is 10-7S·cm-1. It is close to the insulating material, and the oxygen ion conductivity is very poor. Generally, doping methods are used to improve the conductivity. So that yttria doped zirconia is a good choice to improve its electrical conductivity. The nano yttria stabilized zirconia has excellent stability against oxidation and reduction, and it is easily available at low cost, and has a sufficiently high oxygen ion conductivity at high temperatures, good chemical stability and mechanical properties, and therefore it is used in the preparation of SOFC electrolyte film.

      The performance of yttria-stabilized zirconia (YSZ) in high-temperature fuel cell systems would be effected by: impurity content and particle size. The ultra-fine powder has a huge surface area, so that the sintering driving force of the material increases rapidly, the diffusion rate also increases, the diffusion path shortening, so that the sintering process is significantly accelerated, the lowered sintering temperature is conducive to the preparation of the later components. Also, since the electrolyte has a function of a physical barrier layer in the fuel cell, a dense structure needs to be formed, and thus the powder must have a small particle size and a uniform particle size.
