The surface activity of nano copper powder is very high, and it is easily oxidized in the air to form copper oxide or cuprous oxide, which seriously affects its performance. Therefore, it is necessary to modify the surface of nano copper particle to slow down its oxidation speed.

The copper nanoparticles without any surface treatment has serious particle agglomeration due to its high surface energy. However, the coated copper nano powder not only protects the surface of the nanoparticles well during the reaction process, but also obtains excellent dispersion in the resin matrix due to the steric hindrance of the long polymer chain of PVP.

Oleic acid coating makes the surface of copper nanoparticles hydrophobic and plays a protective role, which can effectively inhibit the oxidation of copper.

The anti-oxidation methods currently used mainly include: metal coating method, organic coating method, coupling agent method, reduction protection method, and compounding agent corrosion inhibition method.

The metal coating method, the most studied and applied at present is the core-shell bimetallic powder-silver-coated nano Cu.

Organic matter coating can be with fatty acid, citric acid, etc. The prepared Cu nanopowder is soaked in organic acid for a period of time under certain conditions to coat a layer of organic acid on the surface, or use organic steam to coat the surface of the nano copper particles.

Coupling agents include silanes, titanates, etc. It is a surface treatment agent with two groups.

Corrosion inhibition method is to delay or prevent the oxidation of copper powder through the action of corrosion inhibitor, and use corrosion inhibitor to prevent the oxidation of copper powder. Typical is the bta coating. Bta has strong binding force with clean copper surface, and can form a very strong bta adsorption film. After the film is dried, it is not easy to be washed away by water, and has sufficient chemical inertness to SO and HS, which are highly corrosive, and has good protective effect.
