Nanodiamonds have excellent mechanical and optical properties, high surface areas and tunable surface structures. They are also non-toxic, which makes them well suited to biomedical applications.

Nanodiamonds (NDs) represent a new class of nanoparticle in the carbon family, with superb physical and chemical properties.

1. Precise polishing

Polishing is a traditional application field of nano diamond , even today, polishing including ultra fine grinding is still one of the most important link in the process of the instrument and mechanical manufacturing process. Nano diamond have not only high hardness, but compatible with any medium polarity, these characteristics make nano diamond particles be evenly distributed in the carrier, as a result, nano diamond particles is regarded as a new generation of ultra precision polishing abrasive.


2. Lubrication

Nanodiamond have very high hardness, can grind freely pointed convex of the friction surface, quickly remove the friction pair surface uneven peak, belongs to the very precision grinding and polishing process, it is hard to get for general machinery processing.The effect increases rapidly the contact area between the friction pair, accelerate the running-in process, improved the precision. nano diamond spherical particles are embedded in the contact concave between friction parts, have excellent bearing capacity, friction surface form the ball bearing effect, show the good lubricity, sliding friction into rolling friction, the friction resistance smaller in order to avoid dry grinding.



3. Composite plating


Nano diamond metal composite coating has the following some connectivity:
High wear resistance and micro hardness;
High resistance to corrosion and small porosity;
Very low friction coefficient;
In the high cohesion and adhesion;
the electrolyte have high spred ability.

therefore, engineering and technical experts have great interest and attention on it, application of nanodiamond metal composite plating will guide the innovation the chemistry and chemical plating technology.



4. Magnetic recording system

First of all, the nano diamond in ferromagnetic coating of tape and disk, applied as additives of antifriction and physical denaturant;

Second, adding to electrochemical composite membrane can improve the stability of magnetic recording.


5. Medical treatment(nanomedicine)

Nano diamond have abnormally high adsorption ability and arge specific surface area, a large number of free electrons (number of donor atoms), nano size, a large number of Oxygen containing functional groups on crystal surface, the surface hydrophilic properties. these are important for its treatment agents. Nano diamond can be used of oncology, intestines and stomach, heart, blood vessels, disease diagnosis and treatment and so on, they have no carcinogenic, or mutagenic properties, no poison.
