Beta SiC Whisker Strengthening Resin Diamond Grinding Wheel

Diamond grinding wheel takes diamond abrasive as raw material and uses metal powder, resin powder, ceramic and electroplating metal as bonding agent respectively. The round consolidated grinding tool with through hole in the center is called diamond grinding wheel (alloy grinding wheel).

Generally speaking, resin bond diamond grinding wheel has a low life and can not meet the requirements of advanced CNC machine tools. The grinding wheel's wear can easily cause the fluctuation of machining workpiece size and out-of-tolerance quickly.The short life is mainly due to the resin binder's own poor wear resistance or the control force of diamond is low, which leads to the premature shedding of diamond abrasive particles in the grinding process.Because of this, how to improve the wear resistance of resin bond and improve the control of resin on diamond, it becomes the key to improve the service life of resin bond diamond grinding wheel.

Adding silicon carbide beta sic whisker can greatly improve the strength, hardness, heat resistance and polishing property of binder and grinding wheel. Silicon carbide whiskers have unique mechanical and physical chemical characteristics such as high hardness, high strength (toughness), excellent wear resistance, so it is widely used in metal, ceramic, plastic and composite materials to enhance the strength of composites, prevent shrinkage and deformation.The shape of silicon carbide whisker is like a needle, especially its wechsler hardness is close to diamond, its toughness is good, and its wear resistance is good. Moreover, compared with the abrasive grain, whisker with a certain length has a relatively large bonding area and bonding strength with the binder, even if the diameter and particle size are the same, which greatly improves the service life of the grinding wheel.
The beta micron silicon carbide whisker produced by hongwu nanometer has the characteristics of high purity and good morphology.Its toughening effect and application scope are incomparable with other materials.
