The formation of metal ceramic coating is to focus enough heat energy on the substrate metal surface, in a very short period of time melting  the coating alloy  coated on the surface of the substrate and infiltration substrate surface to make interface react and diffuse between the coating  binding phase (self fluxed alloy) and substrate.
